Calligraphy and ink painting

Calligraphy is the art of ‘beautiful writing’ by hand, using a quill pen, paintbrush, felt-tipped pen or other writing tool. At HAN TONG a professionally trained Chinese calligraphy teacher introduces children to this amazing tradition dating back thousands of years. Children benefit in particular from the training of their coordination and concentration skills. Our calligraphy courses are intended for children from 7 years of age.

For children from 5 years of age we offer courses in ink painting. With this painting and drawing technique, black or coloured ink is applied to paper or silk using a paintbrush. In contrast to calligraphy, it is not primarily characters that are created in ink painting, but depictions of nature or landscape motifs.

Knowledge of Chinese is not required for these courses. Depending on the composition of the group, the language of teaching is Chinese, German and/or English. Course materials are provided during teaching hours. Courses are offered for groups of 4 – 8 children. Private tuition is possible, please enquire!
